The Blue Ridge Mountains are located in northeastern Georgia and have the highest peaks here. It was named Blue Ridge because all of its mountains and peaks were covered in a soft blue haze. This region contains the wettest areas of Georgia and have high elevations from 1,600 to 4,700 feet. The average precipitation annually is at least 80 inches. The mountains also contain a rich biodiversity. The mountains are the southernmost point in the Great Appalachian Chain. The highest peak in Georgia is called Brasstown Bald and it is located here in the Blue Ridge. Most of our water comes form this region.
