The Appalachian Plateau is in northwest Georgia and is the smallest out of all 5 regions. This region is also referred to as the TAG Corner because this where Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia connect. Most of the rocks here in the Appalachian Plateau are similar to those in Ridge and Valley region. The fossils that have contained in the rock here are from the Paleozoic era, meaning it's been there for 540 million to 248 millions!!! The region is filled with a variety of rocks and is composed of a maze of caves, deep canyons, and rock formations. Some of this region was formed due to slightly acidic groundwater. The Appalachian made it hard for settlers to survive and settle here. The southern part of it however, had rivers that made natural gaps within the earth that made it easy to farm.
