Definitions
Active Voice: a sentence in which the subject performs the action denoted by the verb.
Passive Voice: a sentence in which the subject is no longer active. It is being acted upon by the verb instead.

Joseph fed the dogs two hours ago.
Passive Voice: The pepper was sniffed by the man.
Kenny was scratched by the cat.
The dogs were fed not by Joseph, but by Daniel.
